The Companion Guide to ZEITGEIST, Part 1

Secret Societies

Axelrod, Alan & Hicks, Roger, International Encyclopedia of Secret Societies and Fraternal Orders. "Comprehensive treatment is given of the Freemasons, Moose, Red Men, and other fraternal groups, and many others such as the Ku Klux Klan, Mafia, Lions, Rosicrucians, Knights of Columbus, and the famous E Clampus Vitus, a gold rush relic which survives in the California Gold Country today as a drinking and hellraising society. Of special interest are the 'secrets' of the secret societies, such as "grips" (secret handshakes), oaths, ceremonies and rituals, and "magic." Fascinating reading." (from a reviewer)

Barrett, David V., Secret Societies: From the Ancient and Arcane to the Modern and Clandestine. New book.

Bradley, Don Freemasonry in the Twenty-First Century. "So complete and detailed is this book regarding the rituals and rites of the secret degrees of Freemasonry, that masonic scholars and leaders from the world over have lauded its publication." The publisher. A pro-Mason book.

Chalmers, David Mark, Hooded Americanism: The History of the Ku Klux Klan. This group of white-hooded trash should be called the "Ku Klutz Klan" or the "Kuckoo Klan."

Daraul, Arkon, A History of Secret Societies. A classic overview that should be in every conspiracy theorist's library.

Howard, Michael, The Occult Conspiracy: Secret Societies - Their Influence and Power in World History. "The Occult Conspiracy's overriding virtue is its sheer comprehensiveness and sense of continuity from age to age. It offers those wonderful 'Aha!' experiences." (Gnosis)

Knight, Stephen, The Brotherhood, The Secret World of the Freemasons. Shortly after his book was published, Knight was murdered, an event that significantly added to the mystery and mystique of his work.

Ku Klux Klan. ABC's Nightline video.

Mackenzie, KRH, The Royal Masonic Cyclopaedia. First published in 1876, this book is still around for good reasons.

Mackenzie, Norman, ed., Secret Societies, Aldus, 1967.

MacKey, Albert Gallatin, The History of Freemasonry : The Legendary Origins. "An in-depth study of one of the world's most controversial and secretive organizations traces the history of Freemasonry."

Partner, Peter, The Knights Templar and Their Myth. "A systematic examination of the Knights Templar around whom such great magical myths have arisen... Partner has created a rational, terrifying picture of the barbaric times when popes were cruel and kings killed with impunity...Excellent work." (The Book Reader)

Pike, Albert, Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Although Freemasonry (and Pike) is widely vilified, this book is one of the more important ever written, providing excellent information about the true origins and meaning of religion.

Pileggi, Nicholas, Casino : Love and Honor in Las Vegas. For some reason, people are fascinated by the Mafia scuzzballs, who cheat, thieve and murder with great pride.

Pistone, Joseph D., Donnie Brasco: My Undercover Life in the Mafia: A True Story by FBI Agent. A real classy lot.

Ridgeway, James. Blood in the Face: The Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Nations, Nazi Skinheads, and the Rise of a New White Culture. As they say, "Know thy enemy!" These groups are perfect examples of what religious and racial extremism produce. Check out the video for some very unattractive faces of hatred.

Robinson, J, Born in Blood. Lost Secrets of Freemasonry. "For history buffs, curious Catholics, mystery lovers, and Freemasons everywhere comes the first comprehensive and objective book in more than 100 years on the world's largest fraternal organization." Another classic. Connects the dots between the Knights Templar and the Masons.
----, Dungeon Fire and Sword: The Knights Templar in the Crusades

Scheim, David E., Contract on America: The Mafia Murder of President John F. Kennedy. Entirely believable.

Seward, Desmond, The Monks of War: The Military Religious Orders. "The military religious orders emerged during the Crusades as Christendom's stormtroopers in the savage conflict with Islam."

Short, Martin, Inside the Brotherhood. Short investigates the murder of Stephen Knight and examines how deeply the Masonic movement has penetrated all walks of life.

Sims, Patsy, The Klan. "First published in 1978, The Klan is still considered the best book to appear on the grandfather of all extremist hate groups... Patsy Sims, an award-winning journalist, drove more than 1,200 miles over the back roads of the South to begin this book."

Waite, Arthur Edward, A New Encyclopaedia of Freemasonry: Their Rites, Literature, and History/2 Vols in 1 (Ars Magna Latomorum: And of Cognate Instituted Mysteries. "Looks at the history, literature, and myths surrounding Freemasonry, providing comprehensive explanations of their secret rituals and symbolism and discussions of alchemy, astrology, Kabalism, ceremonial magic, and more."

Yallop, David A., In God's Name: An Investigation into the Murder of Pope John Paul I. In this classic international bestseller, Yallop shows how the "Holy Church" has been a front for murderers and thieves who have been members of secret societies.
